Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She's the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network presenter with her distinctive spikey blonde hair and bubbly personality, reveals simple techniques to master and reduces intimidation of restaurants dishes in her show Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of New York's top restaurants, has learned about Italian cuisine and its traditions as well as was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in Upstate New York Chef Burrell was inspired by food. The Culinary Institute of America sparked her interest in restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She states "I loved being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." It was impossible to take enough out of the experience. After graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) during her time at Umbria. She also attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. In Italy she gained an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian culinary and cultural traditions. This will have a significant impact on the way she cooks. Burrell is a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which helps brighten children living with challenges. She is also a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador, where she promotes juvenile diabetes awareness. Burrell travels extensively across the United States in her position as both a mentor and public speaker in which she speaks about her professional life and the joy of cooking. Anne said she felt lucky in that she could be able to share her passion for cooking with other people.
